Original Ptolomeo is the self-standing bookcase that needs no introduction, simple, revolutionary, innovative, sudden as an intuition, surprising as its success.
Original Ptolomeo is a container that hides its shape to privilege its content, eliminates the "superfluous" to highlight the essential , that is, the books . The bookcase looks like a simple metal column to which thin metal shelves are also joined. Shelves that disappear as the column fills with books, when it is full Original Ptolome or it becomes completely imperceptible and it seems that the books placed on it support themselves .
Designed by Bruno Rainaldi, winner of the Compasso d'Oro 2004 , Original Ptolomeo was born from observation rather than from a formal procedure and translates a simple as ingenious idea into a piece of furniture, transforming a pile of books into a design object . A library as "banal" as it is daring, to become a contemporary icon , a harmonious work of art and as a work of art, for its own protection, autographed on the basis with the designer's signature.
Slim, slender and essential, it takes up little space and can be placed in all contexts, from the more traditional to the more contemporary ones, also thanks to its different finishes ( black , white , stainless steel or corten effect) capable of adapting to any type of environment.
Original Ptolomeo a tribute to the books and to the one who first remembered history took care of them. That Ptolemy I Sotere to whom the ideation is owed in the III sec. BC of the Royal Library of Alexandria in Egypt .
