Serralunga, in collaboration with designer Raffaella Mangiarotti, has redesigned this classic, making it innovative, comfortable, and, for the first time, practical for outdoor use.

The Barceloneta chair by Serralunga is a unique reinterpretation of the iconic Barcelona chair, designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Lilly Reich in 1929. It replaces the quilted leather with the practicality of plastic, maintaining the capitonné effect of the backrest.

The charm of this classic is made possible by the use of plastic materials in a sophisticated rotational molding process, a technique in which the Biella-based company is a world leader. It features a painted steel frame and a high-density polyurethane seat with UV protection.

Serralunga's new Barceloneta is a reinterpretation designed to meet today's outdoor living needs, ideal for boating and public spaces.

The project is in line with the company's intention to revisit some great design classics, giving them a contemporary, more cheerful and elegant look.

The Barceloneta chair was selected among the works on display at the Mies van der Rohe Foundation Museum in Barcelona.

"We are honored and delighted to be able to celebrate our reissue of an iconic object, an extraordinary achievement achieved thanks to the collaboration with Raffaella Mangiarotti, our designer and art director until 2020, with whom we created around ten objects."
